The best way to keep up to date with Bury St Edmunds RUFC

10th Greene King IPA 7s a huge success!!!

3 months ago By michael robinson

Once again we nailed it and the 7s hit new highs in terms of rugby quality and superb organisation............

Well what another amazing 7s event!!! So many people came up to me towards the end of the day to say what a great a time they had and how much they enjoyed the day,

The rugby was truly outstanding with Saracens deservedly taking the Elite trophy with some sublime 7s rugby , the skills, power and speed were breath-taking, to overcome a strong Samurai team, commiserations to them.

The Open trophy went to Samurai Academy who once again played well to just squeeze out our Bury Barbarians who put up a fierce fight, well done to both teams.

So a massive well done and thank you from me to everyone who helped to organise, set up and run the event on the day, you can ALL be very proud of what you achieved once again. Thanks to your efforts it is a fantastic showcase for the club, putting us well and truly on the national rugby map.

Those thanks go to the huge number of club members, volunteers on the day, committee members, not forgetting of course our hard working and outstanding bar, catering and facilities teams. We could not run it without all your support.

Of course a big big thanks also goes to all our many sponsors for the day lead by
Greene King IPA,

but also to......

Samurai Sportswear
Towergate Insurance
Ashtons Legal
Chassis Cab
Dor Jam
Bury Developments
Magenta Insurance
DJ Evans
Mid Suffolk Physiotherapy
HireRadio ltd
Shawn Pearce Photography
Premier Printers Ltd
Hadley Marquees

Big thanks also of course to the Super Sevens Series and their main sponsor Bounce for organising such outstanding quality teams and for supporting the event. Barrie Torbett who runs the super Sevens series commented......... “ May I congratulate you on your event management and thank you and your army of volunteers on an excellent day including the weather. I’m guessing there were a few sore heads and shoulders yesterday morning”.

.......And I'm sure he is right !

So the 10th GKIPA 7s was once a again a huge success due to your efforts, you should all be very proud of our truly outstanding rugby club!

Many thanks
Mike Robinson
