The start of the new season at the Club was a busy one on Saturday. Spectators turned out in force to see new players recruited over the summer and the dream team coaching set up of Kevin Magg’s and Ollie Smith. They were also treated to the official launch of the latest facility at the club, the CMC Bar.
The bar, which is positioned pitch side so there is no need to stray far from the action to quench the thirst, was unveiled by Mike Cornell, Managing Director of CMC Contractors Ltd (Construction Made Clear). Operating during 1XV matches and key functions, it provides the club with a third bar on busy match days.
Former Bury St Edmunds 1XV captain and player for 15 years, who has also coached at the club and have received a honorary life membership from the club, Mike established CMC in 2014. The business, which offers lettings as well as building services, has been responsible for some of the most sought after new homes in Bury St Edmunds in recent years including the three new offices on the Park Farm development in Fornham, 19 new houses in Ingham due for completion in 2017 and Hunters House that won the RIBA design award this year. A Bury Rugby man through and through, Mike also supports the club as an employer of several Wolfpack players.
Speaking at the launch Mike Cornell said, “Bury Rugby Club has always been close to my heart and me and my family will do all we can to help the club grow and move forward.”
On behalf of the Club, Chairman Michael Robinson added, “We are delighted to formally welcome CMC Contractors as sponsors and launch the CMC Bar, a fantastic addition to the facilities at the Club.”
