Wolves 28 V Cantabrians 7

by Andy Spetch

Poor weather conditions and a frustrating performance. But a Win!!

After a 2 week lay of, due to adverse weather conditions, the Wolves were keen to get back to their league campaign with a home tie against Cantabrians.

The Wolves started very positively with some great work in the tight especially from the imposing front row of Winters, Oxborough and Hart. This solid forward platform gave the Bury backs good ball to work with and full back Duchesne intelligently came in to the line and execute a great 2 v 1to put wing Linton in to score.

Offord kicked the conversion.

The Wolves 2nd try of the game came from a well controlled driving maul which allowed prop Hart to dash over from .10m out.

Offord kicked the conversion.

With the rain and wind now beating down the Wolves were pleased to go in 18 points to nil at half time.

For much of the second half the Wolves played a far too loose game which allowed Cantabrians to capitalise on mistakes. Cantabrians got a well deserved try back.

But with players like Gilbert, Johnson and Oxborough always there to make that last tackle or drop on that loose ball the Wolves managed to get control back.

With Offord kicking for goal well the Wolves stretched their lead by 9 further points from penalties.

The final try of the game saw centre Gee turn on the burners to break blind and feed wing Turner who in turn fed Offord to score.
