Lovely day, bright sunshine and a home game to boot, what more could you want?

Cavie's sticky hands and determination plunder the in-goal area!

Lovely day, bright sunshine and a home game to boot, what more could you want?
Playing up the hill in the first half Bury were soon under pressure from a Big Halstead team determined to make amends for the early season loss against them. Other than a missed kick-off they spent 8 mins of non-stop pressure keeping Bury pinned in their own 22 area, despite Bury's strong defence they came away with an early penalty after 8 mins, 0-3. Bury stirred into action took the gaem to Halstead and after their own period of sustained pressure Simon (Cavie - TV Star extra-ordinaire) Cooper smashed his way over under the posts for a well deserved try, conv Jonno, 8-3. Halstead smarting from the score roared back and but for Bury's committed defence should have been better placed by half time, as it was the half was so absorbing it pass in a blink of the eye. 8-3
A positive team talk at the break and realising their position Bury start with a flourish, and after 43 mins Cavie was here once again to finish off the moves and score his second, conv missed, 12-3. Despite the early score Halstead attacked from the kick-off and forced errors to regain possession, however with their tails up, Bury's defence with stood their advances and tiredness looked to once again provide the key for Bury to push back down to Halstead's 22 and the pressure paid off with Cavie on hand to increase the scoring with another deserved try, 55 mins, conversion missed, 17-3. This pattern continued again three more times, Bury's defence tested again and again by Halstead only for them to be repelled and tire letting in Bury to score three times more, after 62 mins from Sam, conv Ben 24-3, again after 70 mins by Sam, conv Ben, 31-3 and finished of by Will after 35 mins, conv missed, 36-3. With 5 mins on the clock Halstead were still determined to get the try they richly deserved for all their efforts, and recovered the kick-off and hammered Bury's line, and although resolute in defence after yet another penalty with the last play of the game, Halstead shipped the ball wide to finish in the corner to score their try, conv 36-10.

It was a good game to watch and support from both sides. Bury's performance both individually and especially as a team was the key to unlocking this very determined Halstead Team.
Many thanks to Referee Ryan McAllister for his excellent contribution which we hope to see again this season.
