A real team performance, resolute in defence creating the platform for this outstanding win.

Sudbury's try line falls to a Red letter day!
In what looked to the casual observer to be a very tight game, both sides started with intent, but it was Bury who took the initiative and worked hard to make the first break of the defence line to set them up for the rest of the game. It took 13 mins of real hard work to set up the scrum 15m out for Sean (Red) Davis to pick up and force his way over for Bury's first score out wide, conv Ben Dean, 0-7. There followed 20 mins of mid-field struggle mainly with Bury defending Sudbury's onslaught, committed to team defence each player threw themselves into every tackle and ruck, the tide turning slowly in the scrums with Bury starting to come out on top. Line-outs evenly matched on with Sudbury having two good jumpers winning their own ball they forced Bury back into their own 22, despite Bury's stout defence secured 3 points from a converted penalty on 32mins, 3-7. After scrum adjustments the Sudbury scrum having been worn out by Mat Bell & Alan Davis, were suffering at the hands of re-invigorated Bury scrum, turning over just about every one! This culminated in yet another drive forward into the Sudbury 22, Red got his hands on the ball and with little assistance again forced his way over the Sudbury try line to increase the score on 38mins, Conv Ben, 3-14.
Half time 3-14
Missed the KO due to WB duties, came back to the Sudbury attack kicking through the Bury defence to score out wide, on 44 mins, 8-14. Game on! Not fazed, this now maturing Bury side picked themselves up and forced a penalty on 50 mins which against the wind Ben slotted over to re-start Bury's scoring, 8-17. What followed can only be described as a determined and continual pressure on Sudbury's try line, and after several missed chances they shipped the ball out for Connor Roberts to score in the corner on 63 mins, conv missed, 8-22. From the re-start Bury took the game back to Sudbury, their intent showing in every carry. Pushing back up the slope they quickly got back into scoring position and as before Red (Sean) got his hands on to the ball and again seemingly no stopping him crashed over for the final score on 67 mins, conv Ben, 8-29. With that the game won, Bury tried to increase the score but Sudbury kept them at bay until the final whistle.
Final score 8-29
Thanks to Sudbury for their hospitality and a really competitive game. And thank you to Ref Keith Pickles for an excellent game.
