Match Report by Chris Walker and Craig Vickery
Bury St Edmunds RFC under 16s
Sunday 8th October
Wymondham 5 : Bury St Edmunds 22
It is always a closely fought game when Bury play Wymondham. However, Bury were on fire this time, with an opening try from Harvey Williams in the first minutes of the game. He went on to complete his hat-trick shortly after that. At 17 : 0 Wymondham started to compose themselves, demonstrating their superiority in the scrum. However, they were unable to break through Bury's defence. Bury won several turnover balls, with Valentin Moraru surging across the line just before half time, to take the score to 22 : 0.
The second half was reminiscent of past matches. It was a physical but well natured battle. Wymondham found a gap in Bury's defence, however were thwarted metres from the try line by Sam Roper-Doherty, making the tackle of the match. Bury fielded several new players for this game, all played spectacularly, including Zahir in the front row. After sustained pressure near the Bury try line, Wymondham scored in the last minute of the game, to finish on 22 : 0.
Man of the match awards went to Harvey Hempstead in the backs and Zak Brook in the forwards.
