Foxes V Chelmsford baba's game
By Lucy Martin
Foxes show their true colours and commitment to the development of women's rugby.
The Foxes final home game was a real show of true sportsmanship within women’s rugby. After being informed the opposition, Chelmsford ladies, were unable to field a team for the league game and were giving the Foxes the win a friendly was quickly arranged. With Chelmsford sending their ten available players to bury the two teams were split barbarians’ style with some Foxes pulling on the Chelmsford shirt and some Chelmsford players pulling on the Foxes shirt. With the two teams split this was sure to be a good show with a mix of abilities on either side.
The game proved to be a physical and entertaining game with Bury coming away with the win, 25-0. With tackles coming in hard from either side it was EJ Stearn that was able to cross the line for the first try of the game.
The next two tries for the Bury side came from a Chelmsford player in a Foxes shirt. The Chelmsford player, Shannon Mason, was able to go over the line twice after some well worked team passes. With the first half ending it was clear that this game was going to be a strong battle from both sides right to the final whistle.
The tackles continue hard in the second half with neither side holding back. The forth try of the game however came from a line break from Stephanie Durrant for an impressive run down the wing and over the line. The final try of the game coming from EJ Stearn, scoring her second of the game.
