Foxes finish 2018 with a 60-5 win at home

60-5 win leaving the Foxes 13 points clear at the top.

The last home league game of 2018 brought a well-disciplined competitor to the Haberden, Lakenham Hewett. With a strong attacking presence and solid defense, the Foxes finished with a convincing 60-5 win leaving them 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Within the first minutes of the game the Foxes were able to show their strength within the forwards pack with a solid scrum and strong tackles. This helped towards the first two trys with the backs able to run strong and show their handling skills getting the ball to Robyn Gordon to score the first try of the game. The second coming from a pass off the back of the scrum for Georgie Palmer to score under the posts – converted.

Lakenham came back to make the Foxes fight for the win but were rigorously knocked back by a solid defense. This helped break down the attack of Lakenham resulting in the foxes turning over their scrum and the ball was passed through the hands to Abz Kegge for her to score – converted.

The third try coming from strong runs Lucy Kerr was set up to run in the try from the 15 meters line – converted.

The second half started similar to how the first finished with the Foxes on the defense with Lakenham determined to get on the score board which resulted in a try for the away team. (28-5).

Keeping their heads up the Foxes came back fighting, this resulted in the next two tries for the Foxes with Steph Hanratty being able to run down the left wing to score. The eighth try of the game came from a solid scrum for Georgie Palmer going over the line.

The next two trys came from strong individual runs and avoiding the Lakenham defense to go over the line firstly with Em Gattlin followed Florence Wilkinson score her first try for the Foxes. The final try of the game came from the forwards going through the phases and passing through the hands for Hanratty to score in the corner. (60-5).
