The first home game of 2019 for the Foxes brought a top of the table clash to the Haberden with West Norfolk hoping to holt the Foxes winning streak. However, this was not to happen with the Foxes showing true grit and determination to get the 33-10 win.
From the kick off it was clear that this was going to be a hard-fought game by both the Foxes and West Norfolk with smashing tackles coming in from both sides. However, it was the Foxes that were to cross the line first. This came from some strong phases by the forwards and then some impressive handling from the backs for Elina Rougier to pass the ball off to Holly Fifield for her to score the Foxes first; converted.
The second try was from similar play from the backs with Steph Hanratty and Stephanie Durrant to work some brilliant passes between the two for Stephanie Durrant to score in the corner, converted. The third try this time coming from Steph Hanratty after another series of brilliant passes from Georgie Palmer and Em Gattlin, converted.
West Norfolk came back fighting to get some points on the board, but the Foxes were able to hold off their advances with strong tackles coming in from Abz Kegge and Georgie Palmer in particular. Unfortunately, the solid tackles and strong defence wasn’t enough to stop West Norfolk from receiving a penalty and getting their first points. (21-3).
It was West Norfolk to go in to half time with a point to prove going over the line for a try before the whistle, converted. (21-10).
The second half started with the Foxes showing their team work from both the forwards and the backs they were able to help Georgie Palmer across for the Foxes 4th try of the game. The battle between the two continued with strong runs from both sides, in particular Laura Stone, and Holly Fifield from the Foxes.
It was the Foxes to deliver the final blow before full time with Em Gattlin working great passes between Robyn Gordon and Kaylee Williams before Em Gattlin going over the try line, converted. Finishing the game 33-10.
