On Sunday night, Dick (after a short illness) passed peacefully in WSH, with his family in attendance.
Dick had been a major influence on the success of the club in the early years, as a drayman with Greene King he was the ideal barman of choice, running the bar in the old club house before the move to the extensive facilities we have today.
Dick was often the first at the club to open up, even for away games and nearly always the last to leave the club. He made everyone welcome and was often the first person new members met, pointing them in the right direction to see Captains or Chairman respectively.
When not running the Rugby club, he was also running the bar and grounds at Nowton Cricket Club, luckily the two rarely coincided.
Further details of any arrangements will be available soon.
Our condolences are extended to Jean and his family on this very sad news.
