Cambridge kicked off with the wind and low winter sun behind them on an otherwise overcast grey afternoon, they took the ball to the 10 yard line and held it there for an uncomfortable five minutes until bury got a break and took the ball to the other end of the pitch. A sustained series of attacks saw Bury score with Will Whittaker taking the ball under the posts.
Cambridge responded by applying pressure on the Bury's defence, forcing a penalty from which they scored, (3-7).
Cambridge capitalised on this and took another try between the posts taking the score to (10-7).
Declan Howard took the score to (10-12) at half time.
The second half saw Bury's scrum dominate Cambridge. A resulting maul gained Bury at least 5 yards up to Cambridge's 10 yard line leading to Will Whittaker scoring between the posts followed by a try from Ewan Sherrell.
Cambridge didn't give up and gained one back.
Burys kicking game gained them territory and after a series of tough tackles on Cambridge Joseph Donalds scored Bury's final try with Ewan converting his 4th out of 5 conversions of the game with Bury finishing (15-33).
