JA v Wymondham away
By Mark Harding
Bury fought hard to turn around a 14 point deficit at half time.
Wymondham kicked off and Bury took the play deep into Wymondham's half for a sustained attack lasting ten minutes. Wymondham's defence remained strong and finally they broke and took the play to Bury's half. Bury were unable to match Wymondham's defence and they broke through scoring between the posts for an easy conversion. Wymondham found Bury's weak point and within minutes repeated their first try and conversion. Leaving the score 14-0 to Wymondham.
Bury kicked off the second half and with coach Andrea's half time talk ringing in their ears and found their earlier attacking form. George Ash found space to make a great run down the right hand touch line slipping through several attempted tackles as he went to score 10 yards in from the touch line. Unfortunately the conversion went wide. This momentum saw Bury make fast ground again with Ewan Sherrell scoring Bury's second try right next to the posts. This gave Jack Bowyer chance to confidently convert bringing Bury back within reach of the win.
Wymondham found resolve to defend well again and take the play back down to Bury's 22. With a break down the touch line it appeared that Wymondham's player had put a foot into touch right by the post but the try was made just inside the corner post with an admittedly excellant conversion following.
Bury did not give up the fight and made a series of attacks. Wymondham resisted as the clock ran down and they eventually kicked the ball out to a 21-12 win to Wymondham.
